NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 18, 2011 – Fruit importer Pacific Group Holdings, Inc., known for its Bonita Bananas brand name, has leased 5,000 square feet for its United States headquarters at the Military Park Building, 60 Park Place in Newark, announced The Berger Organization, which owns the 250,000-square-foot, landmark office tower. The commitment caps a year of notable leasing success for the Military Park Building, which in recent months has welcomed five additional office tenants as well as three shops into a new ground-floor retail component at the property.

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 15, 2010 – The Berger Organization’s Military Park Building, 60 Park Place in Newark, has become a location of choice for non-profit organizations, as evidenced by three recent leases and several established tenants at the 250,000-square-foot office tower.

Project Introduces Fitness Center, Conference Space at Newark, N.J., Landmark

NEWARK, N.J., Oct. 6, 2010 –  The Berger Organization has announced the completion of a sizable capital improvement project that has introduced a new tenant fitness center, conference space and other upgrades at The Military Park Building in Newark. The 250,000-square-foot, 85-year-old historic landmark office property is located in the city’s central business district at 60 Park Place.

Newmark Knight Frank was named the exclusive leasing agent for 60 Park Place, a 22-story office tower in downtown Newark that is offering several unique incentives to snare tenants.

The Berger Organization, which acquired the 220,000-square-foot building in 2007 and spent another $5 million in upgrades, is offering free parking for new tenants as well as free hotel rooms and conference facilities at the nearby Robert Treat Hotel.

"We’re looking to do a longer term deal, but we’re looking to [offer] considerable concessions that other buildings haven’t given or can’t give," said Rich Mirliss, a managing director at Newmark.

The main block of available space is 45,000 square feet on the building’s sixth through eighth floors, which can be used for several single-floor tenants or one multi-floor tenant. The building has another 26,000 square feet with spaces ranging from 950 to 6,483 square feet scattered throughout the building.

New Owner Plans Additional Enhancements for Landmark Office Tower

NEWARK, N.J., Jan. 15, 2008 – Newark’s Military Park Building at 60 Park Place has been acquired by The Berger Organization, a long-time commercial real estate developer and manager in the city. The historic property was purchased from Kushner Companies by Berger, which had been a minority partner in the 250,000-square-foot office tower.

Cushman & Wakefield, Inc.’s Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group orchestrated the sale, which brings Berger’s interest in 60 Park Place from 15 to 100 percent. “The purchase of 60 Park Place was a natural acquisition for The Berger Organization since we are very familiar with, and maintain an active presence in, the neighborhood,” said Miles Berger, chairman and chief executive officer. Berger also owns and manages 10 Park Place, the former Fireman’s Insurance Building, and 50 Park Place, The Robert Treat Center office complex and historic Robert Treat Hotel.
